The Grafton Morrish

The Grafton Morrish is another scratch foursomes event held in the Autumn of each year.

This event is open to any School Old Boys golf society (unlike the Hewitt which is limited to a select 64 schools). In order to compete in the finals, the society must first qualify in a regional scratch foursomes stableford competition which, in the case of the OHGS, is held at Royal Ashdown Forest in the spring of each year.

Roughly half of the schools attempting to qualify will get through to the final but standards are rising every year. Qualification at Royal Ashdown Forest requires about 81 scratch stableford points from three pairs or 27 points for each pair.

The team for the qualifying competition is selected by the Captain on the basis of handicap and known performance at the various society meetings. Generally, those who have played in the qualifying round will get priority in selection for the main event which is held at Royal West Norfolk and Hunstanton in north Norfolk
