The Autumn Meeting

The Autumn meeting is held on a Friday and Saturday at Royal St Georges golf club in Sandwich on the east coast of Kent. Most people come for both days but you are more than welcome to come just for the Friday or Saturday. The OHGS also holds its Annual General Meeting on the Friday night before dinner.

Accommodation is arranged in the Club House or in a local hostelry. Those who have long since discovered their inability to rise at 6 o'clock, drive for 2 hours and then play reasonable golf, tend to meet in Sandwich for a few drinks and an evening meal on the Thursday night. St George's looks after us very well and provides an excellent dinner in the club house on the Friday night.

The agenda for the two days is:-

Scratch medal for the Higginson Cigarette Box

Handicap stableford for the Westward Ho! medal

The best aggregate scratch score at the Spring and Autumn meetings also wins

the Bonallack Bowl

Lunch in the clubhouse

Handicap Foursomes Stableford against bogey for the Usher Goblets

Annual General Meeting

Dinner in the clubhouse followed by the draw for the Friendship decanters and tote

Handicap foursomes stableford against bogey for the Friendship Decanters

Lunch in the clubhouse

Handicap singles stableford for the Seabrook Haileybury and Imperial service college  Trophy (S.H.I.T. for short)

All in all an excellent weekend combining a feast of golf on an Open Championship course with a gourmet experience in the club's dining room.

To encourage some of the younger members to attend this meeting, the OHGS will subsidise the cost of their golf. Please contact the secretary for further details
